Tata Motors has achieved a historic milestone in India's electric vehicle industry by becoming the first automaker in the country to surpass 3 lakh cumulative EV sales. The achievement further strengthens Tata's leadership position in the rapidly growing electric mobility segment, where it currently commands a market share of 38.9 percent.
The company announced the milestone through a special social media campaign, highlighting the success of its popular electric models including the Nexon.ev, Punch.ev, Tiago.ev, Curvv.ev, and Harrier.ev.

Tata EV Sales Continue Strong Growth
Tata Motors reached the 3 lakh cumulative EV sales milestone in March 2026, marking a major achievement for the Indian automotive industry. The automaker recorded total EV wholesales of 92,120 units during FY2026, registering an impressive 43 percent year-on-year growth.
The company's expanding EV portfolio, improving charging infrastructure, and increasing consumer acceptance of electric mobility have played a crucial role in driving this growth.
Adding to its success, Tata Motors achieved another significant milestone in May 2026 by recording its highest-ever monthly EV sales.
Tata Crosses 10,000 Monthly EV Sales For The First Time
In May 2026, Tata Motors sold 10,517 electric vehicles, becoming the first Indian automaker to cross the 10,000-unit monthly EV sales mark.

10,517 EVs sold in May 2026
85 percent year-on-year growth
Retail registrations crossing 10,000 units
Over 100 percent growth in retail registrations compared to the previous year
The strong performance reflects the growing demand for electric vehicles across India and Tata's continued dominance in the segment.
EVs Now Contribute Nearly 18 Percent Of Tata's Passenger Vehicle Sales
Tata Motors revealed that electric vehicles now account for a significant share of its overall passenger vehicle business.
During May 2026, EVs contributed approximately 17.5 percent of the company's total passenger vehicle sales volume. This represents the highest EV penetration ever achieved by Tata Motors and highlights the increasing shift of Indian buyers towards electric mobility.
