Toyota is all set to launch the ninth-generation Hilux in India next month, bringing a completely redesigned pickup truck with updated styling, a more premium interior, and new technology features. The new Hilux made its global debut in November 2025, and its arrival in India comes less than a year later.
The outgoing Hilux has been on sale in India for more than four years and is currently priced between ₹28.52 lakh and ₹36 lakh (ex-showroom). With the extensive upgrades on offer, the new model is expected to command a premium over the existing version.
The ninth-generation Hilux gets a completely fresh design while retaining its tough, body-on-frame character.
At the front, the pickup features:
Slim LED headlamps
Large honeycomb-pattern grille
Bold Toyota lettering
Angular air intakes
Chunky front bumper
From the side, the new Hilux receives cleaner body panels, muscular wheel arches, 17-inch alloy wheels, and rugged body cladding. At the rear, vertically stacked C-shaped LED tail lamps, a large Toyota badge, and a redesigned bumper give the pickup a more modern appearance.
Inside, Toyota has completely redesigned the cabin, making it significantly more premium than before.
The dashboard now features:
Dual 12.3-inch digital displays
New three-spoke steering wheel
Premium dashboard layout
Physical buttons for major controls
Improved centre console design
Despite the larger screens, Toyota has retained physical controls for frequently used functions, making the cabin practical for both everyday driving and off-road use.

The new Hilux comes loaded with several premium features, including:
Dual-zone automatic climate control
Wireless phone charger
Connected car technology
Powered and ventilated front seats
Multi-terrain camera
360-degree camera
Over-the-Air (OTA) updates
Drive and terrain modes
Blind Spot Monitor
Driver drowsiness detection
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
These additions make the new Hilux one of the most feature-rich lifestyle pickup trucks in its segment.
Toyota is expected to continue offering the proven 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine in the India-spec Hilux.
The current engine produces:
204 hp
500 Nm of torque
Transmission options are expected to include:
6-speed manual gearbox
6-speed automatic transmission
Like the outgoing model, four-wheel drive (4x4) is likely to remain standard across the range.
One of the biggest expected updates is the addition of Toyota's 48V Neo Drive mild-hybrid system, which was first introduced on the Fortuner.
The mild-hybrid setup is expected to improve:
Fuel efficiency
Low-speed torque
Engine refinement
Start-stop performance
Although Toyota has not officially confirmed this for India, it is widely expected to be offered with the new Hilux.
Toyota has also introduced an all-electric version of the Hilux in international markets.
The Hilux EV features:
59.2 kWh battery pack
Dual electric motors
Combined output of 196 hp
WLTP driving range of approximately 240 km
However, Toyota has not announced any plans to bring the electric Hilux to India.
With its updated design, premium cabin, and additional technology, the ninth-generation Hilux is expected to be priced higher than the outgoing model.
Once launched, it will continue to rival lifestyle pickup trucks such as the Isuzu V-Cross, while also appealing to buyers looking for a rugged off-roader with modern features.
The ninth-generation Toyota Hilux represents a significant upgrade over its predecessor. With a bold new design, feature-packed interior, advanced safety technology, and the possibility of mild-hybrid assistance, Toyota is looking to strengthen its position in India's premium lifestyle pickup segment.
With the official launch expected next month, the new Hilux could become one of the most exciting pickup truck launches of 2026.
